The Torre Sponda Gardens
The terraced gardens and orchards which surround Torre Sponda, the imposing lookout tower built in 1280, are the heart of the 4 acre private garden complex. The gardens include olive, lemon, tangerine and pomegranate trees with a harmonious blend of more archaic species of the Amalfi Coast, such as the ancient carobs, the Opuntia vulgaris (prickly pear), Aloe, the giant Agave, the Euphorbia Canariensis and Bouganvillea, as well as, datura stramonia, echeveria, cycas, clematis, euphorbia, hibiscus and jasmin. The flowering gardens include agapantus, teucrium, nasturcium, plumbago, lobelia, lavanda, as well as a delicious kitchen herb garden, full of various varieties of basel, parsley, sage, oregano, mint rosemary and other pungent herbs.
